apc x carhartt down vest

seeing the words apc & carhartt together still weirds me out a little bit.  mainly because the only pants i wore in college were carhartts, and when i stopped trying to act like a redneck after college,  i bought a pair of apc new standards.  (not that you have to be a redneck to wear carhartt pants but i thought i was when i put them on).  all kidding aside, it makes sense that these two brands would come together and produce some good looking s**t like this down vest.  it also comes in black, but i’m partial to this hazel color.  the only downside is the price.  (hint it’s $320).  what do you expect.  it’s apc.  duh.

fall inspiration: r.p. mcmurphy

one flew over the cuckoo’s nest is one of my all time favorite films.  if you haven’t seen it yet, do yourself a favor and add it to your netflix instant queue.  jack nicholson’s performance as r.p. mcmurphy earned him an oscar in 1975.  with that said, it’s not the most stylish film ever – unless you’re into hospital gowns from the 1970’s – but mcmurphy’s style outside of the institution is fall inspiration for me every year.  you can’t go wrong with an old pair of blue jeans, some red wing 875s, a denim shirt, and beat-up bomber jacket.  classic.  Continue reading

for dudes who don’t like clothes

i went to a party a couple of weeks ago where word got out that i had a “lifestyle” blog.  it was first referred to as a “fashion” blog, but there is nothing fashionable about to take the train.  i also wouldn’t call it a “lifestyle” blog.  it’s a place where i like to post things i’m interested in.  not a big deal, right?  well, you know how dudes are.  we can’t talk to other dudes about clothes and shoes, because that’s what chicks talk about.  i’m not sure why dudes are so scared to talk about clothes with other dudes.  they’ve been essential since the fall of man (unless you are in fact a nudist and clothes are not part of your daily routine).  one gentleman at the party asked me about his attire and what he should do differently.  i’m not an expert, so i tried to avoid the issue.  i just know what i like to wear; i can’t tell you what’s going to look good on you.  with that said, i put together some inoffensive suggestions for those of you that are not interested in hashtag menswear or pretend like you don’t read style blogs.  here’s where you can find the items above: j. crew cords, ledbury shirt, leather plaque belt, billykirk wallet,  and clarks desert boots.
