skull & bones

skanbns

i like pretty much anything skull & bones when it comes to menswear (or dog collars).  i have a couple of pairs of skull & bones socks, but no tie.  well, that is until i order this masterpiece from punk monsieur.  they’re calling it a skull tie, but i see bones on there too.  regardless of what you want to call it, it’s badass and perfect for your upcoming holiday party rotation.

otis james pocket square

otisjames

i’m late to the pocket square party.  it’s not because i don’t like them (i think they look fantastic).  it’s because up until now i’ve been self conscious about my ability to fold them correctly.  no more.  i think i’ve got this s**t figured out, and just in time too.  local tie maker otis james has added handmade pocket squares to his repertoire of goods.  this thing is a beauty.  if you haven’t heard of otis james or seen any of his stuff, you can check out his website here.  his ties are phenomenal too.

holiday gift idea: sid mashburn fox tie

i deviated from the plan this morning.  the plan was to mention the above tie as a nice holiday gift suggestion, but when i went to sid’s website and saw the new double monks, it was game over.  now that the double monks are out of the way, we can get back on track.  the next item on my christmas list is this fox tie from sid mashburn.  why?  because sid makes extremely nice silk ties and foxes are one of my favorite animals.  the green is currently sold out, but the navy one looks just as good.  ties aren’t such bad gifts after all.

the longshoreman necktie from the knottery

shame on me for not mentioning the knottery before now.  jay and jack make great looking ties, pocket squares, and belts that won’t hurt you wallet, but look like they did.  for this holiday season, they created a tie that looks an awful lot like a certain norwegian sweater you’ve been telling people you’ve had since the 80’s.  the best part about it – besides how incredible it looks – is the price.  you can get your own longshoreman necktie for $25.  you better place an order before it’s too late.

know your audience

i was a communications major in college, so i had to take a bunch of speech classes.  the first thing they teach you in speech class is to know your audience.  in a couple of hours, i have to present a small token of appreciation to a couple of songwriters and one artist that bleeds red and black.  i figured this would be an appropriate time to bust out the uga tie.  always remember that when dressing for an event or speaking in front of a crowd, know your audience.  go dawgs.

the hill-side leaf camo necktie

last friday, the hill-side took over the blogosphere.  i’m not sure if it was planned, but a few of my favorite reads featured some of their neckwear (see a headlong dive, alex grant, and dreams of perfection).  one of the pieces that caught my eye was this leaf camo necktie.  i figure i might as well jump on the camo bandwagon before it’s too late.  if you’re interested in grabbing one of your own, then head over to hickoree’s for more details.

also be sure to check out the hill-side’s a/w 2011 lookbook found here.
