new balance 247 sneakers in olive

greennb

last week j. crew released a new collaboration with new balance featuring some stylish workout gear.  being that i’m quite partial to lulu and now outdoor voices, i’m not going to jump on any of the clothes portion of this collaboration, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t.  you can check out the full collection here.  there are some really good pieces.  what i am going to do is grab a pair of these olive green kicks you see before you because the color is too good to pass up and they look ridiculously comfortable.  i’ll report back as soon as i have them in my possession.

adidas reissuing rod laver shoes

laver1

adidas rod laver tennis shoes might be my favorite tennis shoes of all time.  i’ve run through close to 3 pairs.  that might not sound like a lot, but i bought my first pair when i was a sophomore in college.  that was forever ago.  rumor has it they’re reissuing the original shoe from the 60’s.  this is good news because 2 years ago they added a new outsole that increased the weight of the shoe about 20 pounds or at least it felt like it.  the reissues were supposed to be on adidas.com on thursday, but i didn’t see them when i just checked.  i will continue to check back until i get these shoes.  they will be mine.  oh yes they will be mine.

2016 wish list: black double monks

sidmonksblack1

it’s been a minute since i’ve talked about double monks.  that doesn’t mean i’m not wearing them once or twice a week.  i have a pair of brown ones, but i think it’s time to go to the dark side (sorry couldn’t resist a star wars reference).  i wear a suit to work every day, so i need to continue to add to my shoe arsenal.  my target is another pair of monks from sid mashburn.  they don’t get any better looking than these.

nike lunar control 4 golf shoes

nikelunar4.1

my golf blog didn’t really take off.  i didn’t realize it at the time, but blogging about golf is pretty damn hard.  it would also be a full time job and i have a job and don’t want to lose that one.  i’m going to combine the two blogs and occasionally throw up some golf stuff on here.  i hope you don’t mind.

yesterday nike released their new lunar control golf shoe (which should be called “the rory” but whatever it’s not up to me).  i absolutely love them.  i bought a pair of lunar control 3s this summer and they are the ultimate in comfort and function.  these are apparently lighter and more comfortable with improved cleats (or spikes if you will).  they also feature an extra large swoosh across the front.  be prepared to see a lot of these when the weather gets warm.

nike internationalist and nike air odyssey

nikeairo nikeintl

i’ve been on a big nike kick lately.  it makes me feel like a kid again.  (side note: when i was a kid, i went through a couple of years when everything i owned had to be nike related including my school binder, backpack, etc.)  with summer now over and before i turn to boots full time, i’m going to grab a pair of nikes to rock this fall.  currently, i’m trying to decide between these two models: the internationalist and the air odyssey.  for under and around $100, you can’t go wrong here.

new balance crt300

nbcrt2015i don’t play tennis, but that doesn’t matter, because these kicks are fire.  i’m a big fan of new balance court classics and these are another stellar collaboration with j. crew (obviously).  i really don’t need any more summer kicks, but why the hell not?  it’s always good to have options.  get your own right here before they sell out.  they’re going quickly.

summer shoes

VansSk8

vans are probably my all time favorite shoes.  there’s no telling how many pairs i’ve owned over the years.  every spring / summer i buy a new pair.  it’s usually authentics or slip-ons, but this year i decided to change it up and go with the sk8-hi.  there’s really not much to them – they’re canvas and suede with the vans vulcanized signature waffle outsole.  it’s been a long time since i skated, but that doesn’t mean i can’t relive my not-so-glory days every once in a while.

the year of the superstar

superstar

last year we had the stan smith.  this year it’s the superstar.  they’re popping up everywhere and i’ll be honest, i like them.  i’ve owned a couple of pairs over the years, but not since 2007 i believe (i think my ex-wife threw them out or at least recommended i do so).

the superstar was the first low-top leather basketball shoe to be made.  it’s easily identifiable by its rubber toe box which people called the “shell shoe.”  after they’re introduction, they were quickly adopted by the hip-hop community and immortalized in the run-dmc song “my adidas.”

it’s nice to see adidas making such a triumphant comeback.  if they could just go back to making the rod laver without the added weight of the new gum sole, i would be a happy man.

and for those wondering how you wear them, this is how you do it:

the ugliest shoes you’ll see all season

mhhp

this page in men’s health starts with “here’s one way to guarantee that every man will want to walk a mile in your shoes.”  excuse me.  what?  are we talking about the shoes listed under that copy.  if we are in fact talking about those shoes, then maybe it’s time to check yourself.  these are the ugliest shoes i’ve seen in a long time.  look it’s not my thing to get on here and crap all over someone’s design or product (i’m not qualified to do so), but these do not pass the eye test.  purple + back + gray camo = something bebop and rocksteady would wear on tmnt.  they’re also listed as “the mh must-have.”  really?  we, the readers of men’s health magazine, must have these shoes.  c’mon man.  you can do better than that, men’s health.  (please note the brand is not named to protect the guilty party.)

for fall: new balance crt300

nb1.300

summer is winding down (or at least i hope it is.  it’s way too damn hot outside).  i’m ready for the fall.  i like everything about the fall i.e. football, european football, baseball playoffs, cooler weather, whiskey, tailgates, jackets (i was a fat kid growing up), more football.  you get the picture.  one thing you’re going to need for all this fall goodness is a pair of transition kicks.  enter the new balance crt300.  it’s a suede and mesh retro looking tennis shoe featuring new balance’s revlite soul technology (it means they’re super light, ya dingus).  i’m a big fan of this weird looking blue, but if you’re not digging it, more colorways are available at newbalance.com.
