air jordan 1 retro high “barons”

jpbaron

much to the chagrin of (some) friends and family and various readers of to take the train, i am a big fan of air jordans.  the 1’s and the 3’s are my favorites.  i bought a pair of air jordan 3 retro “infrareds” a couple of months back and took some pretty harsh criticism from those around me.  i ended up returning them (frowny face).

i get it.  they’re not necessarily “me” or my particular style – which is one reason i like them so much.  the other reason i’m into air jordans is because they remind me of my childhood.  i remember wearing the 1’s, 3’s, 4’s, 5’s and 6’s.  i skipped the 2’s.  i still don’t care for them.

after jabari parker was drafted by the bucks last week, he threw out the first pitch at a milwaukee brewers game and was wearing a pair of air jordan 1 retro high “barons.”  the color motif is a nod to jordan’s minor league baseball days with the birmingham barons.  right now these are at the top of my “to cop” list.  i’m a sucker for grey sneakers.  i was in las vegas when they dropped and slept through my phone alarm (damn it!).  the next time i have an extra $200 lying around i know where it’s going.  in the meantime, i can admire these through various pictures on the internet.  oh, and i wish jabari parker a long and successful career in the nba (not that he reads this blog, but i figured i might as well throw that in there.  i liked watching him at duke).

walk over shoes

while doing my usual blog recon this morning, i stumbled upon walk over shoes and some wonderful looking bucks.  immediately the navy bucks with the red brick soles caught my attention.  the buck game has been dominated by mark mcnairy, but i’ve never clicked buy because i didn’t feel comfortable with the price point.  walk over shoes is not a new company, but their online store is new today from what i understand.  please head over to walk over and check out their inventory.  classic looking shoes at a nice price.  they’re not cheap by any means, but definitely affordable and definitely great looking.

mark mcnairy in garden and gun

i’m hoping this picture looks a lot better on your computer than it does on my awful work computer (dell).  i caught this page in the newest issue of garden and gun with the avett brothers on the cover.  i have a love/hate relationship with mark mcnairy.  some of his collections are a little too off-the-wall for me – like the white bucks with the bright blue sole – but occasionally he will surprise me.  i almost wrecked my car when i saw these double monk bucks.  i’m a sucker for red brick soled shoes.  he seems to like them too since 70% of his shoes have them.  i also love the long wing boot he did with engineered garments.

on another note, i still don’t own any double monks because i can’t find any that i like.  i emailed lawrence of sartorially inclined while i was in new york to ask him where i could find a pair in a decent price range ($250-$450).  he told me you couldn’t get quality double monks for that price and to wait for his run of the mill ones to come out this spring.  my curiosity is piqued.  i’m looking forward to seeing those.
