patagonia pullover

hello, is it me you’re looking for?  i’m sure no one has been missing me.  it’s been 6 months since i wrote something.  SIX MONTHS!!!  where the hell have i been?  honestly, i couldn’t tell you or maybe i could and you wouldn’t care.  i can see it in your eyes.  i can see it in your smile (sorry that’s some more lionel for you).  either way i’m alive.  i’d like to start writing on the reg, but you know how that goes.

in august, i went to alaska for two weeks.  it was amazing and if you follow me on instagram (user name: coopersamuels), there are a bunch of pics from the trip.  one thing i (re)discovered in alaska was how bomb patagonia is as a brand.  i bought a nano puff hoody and haven’t taken it off since (that’s a lie).  anyway…they are an amazing brand and there’s a reason i was obsessed with them in high school and college.

one thing that should be on your list this holiday season is an ugly-as-f**k snap-t fleece pullover.  i just bought the one above.  how amazing is it?  i’m not saying you should order the same one, but look at it.  it’s incredible.  you need it.  i need it.  everyone needs it.  you can get your very own here.  don’t be afraid of the u.a.f. snap-t fleece.  there are more ugly options on the website if this one doesn’t suit your fancy.

rock in fashion

i love a good coffee table book.  i have a few that rotate year-round – the beatles anthology, the clash, u2 by u2, and a few others.  (notice a common theme there?)  i can’t say that i’ve read any of them, but that’s the beauty of coffee table books: you don’t have to read them.  i pick them up from time to time to check out the photos of some of my favorite bands through the years.  i hadn’t purchased anything from john varvatos (not really my scene) until i stumbled upon his recently released rock in fashion book.  it’s a homage to the music that changed his life and inspired his clothing line.  it’s a great collection of photos shot by some of the best rock and roll photographers of all time.  hail! hail! rock ‘n’ roll!  get yours here.

this is the only other sale i’ll mention today (i hate shopping, remember?).  j. crew is offering 30% off in stores and online plus free shipping on orders of $150+.  i should be shopping for others, but i was in dire need of some new casual shirts.  here are a few items i’ve had my eye on this winter:

i’m not a black friday shopping kind of dude, but i don’t mind saving money when i get the chance.  one sale that you can’t miss today is at ledbury.  all of their shirts are 35% off.  that’s insane.  i bought 3 this morning, because last year i tried to get in on this goodness and missed the boat on every shirt in my size.  get over there now and stock up while you can.  here’s one i copped:

that’s what i’m talkin’ ’bout.

weekend plans

it’s time.  i’ve waited too long.  home alone and home alone 2 are two of those movies that make me feel like a kid again.  i can’t think of a movie i’ve seen more than home alone.  i was obsessed as a kid.  i wanted to get robbed so i could booby trap the house.  i’m thankful now that never happened, because a pudgy 10 year old with water above the door probably couldn’t have stopped a couple of robbers.  it isn’t officially christmas time unless i’ve seen home alone.  i will be watching both this weekend.  thank you, john hughes.

holiday gift idea

everybody needs a puppy at some point in their life and there’s no time better than christmas.  you might want to start looking as soon as possible, because a lot of breeders will plan on the holiday rush.  do your homework and get a dog from a good family/breeder.  rescuing a pup is always a good thing to do as well.  make sure whoever you’re giving the dog to has the time and money to take care of the pup.  they require more $$$ and time than you probably think.
