red wing weekender chukka boots

redwingweekender1.png

are you sick of your clarks desert boots yet?  i was, so i searched for an alternative and low and behold i found these red wing weekender chukka boots.  since i don’t blog as much as i used to and/or keep up as much as i used to, i didn’t know these were a thing, but they are.  they’re solid shoes for the summer when you have to wear pants.  the only thing is that they’re wide as hell, so if you have a narrow foot, go for a size down.  if you have a wide foot go a half size down.  break in time is less than a full day in them.  nice job red wing.  get yours at todd snyder.

sid mashburn online

the sid mashburn e-commerce shop (do people still say e-commerce?) is finally up and running.  i went through it with a fine toothed comb and picked out a few of my favorite items.  number one being this navy fox tie.  i don’t know what it is about foxes but i love them.

sperry 2011 fall corduroy chukka

i’m a sucker for sperry chukkas.  these are no exception.  the uppers are made of waxed canvas and corduroy with leather laces and a gum sole.  i’m glad a lot of brands are jumping on the waxed canvas train (see l.l. bean signature bean boot).  i’m pissed i have to wait until next fall to get my hands on these.  they’ll be worth the wait.

looks tough.  buy some here.

alden cordovan chukka boots

i want these.  i want to wear them with my suit.  i get sick of oxfords and loafers.  i tried on a pair like these at johnston and murphy last fall, but they just didn’t feel right.  j&m don’t make quality like alden so that might have had something to do with it.  basically i need to win the lottery so i can clean out my shoe selection at the house.  i’m also taking donations.

transition shoes: the sperry chukka

it might be the start of fall, but i’m not ready to give up my sperry top-siders just yet.  i need a transition shoe from the end of one season to the next.  the sperry chukka from j. crew is the perfect mix of summer and fall.  you can thrown on without socks for the next couple of weeks until your feet can’t take the chill any more.
