on sale: the i+w jack canvas utility coat

iwcanvascoat

you gotta love the changing of the seasons.  a lot of the time that means sales.  imogene and willie has been trying to unload some of their inventory this week.  the jack canvas utility coat is currently marked down from $265 to $165.  that’s a savings of a $100 to you and me.  they’re out of smalls, but everything else is in stock.  better act fast.

wes lang x i+w bandana

weslangiplusw

wes lang is a badass.  if you’re not familiar with his work, google “wes lang grateful dead” or “wes lang kanye.”  dude has ridiculous amounts of street cred.  it’s no surprise that he’s a) friends with matt and carrie eddmenson from imogene + willie and b) partnered with them to make this limited edition bandana.  there are 500 of them available, so act fast if you want one.  buy yours here and be sure to check out the video on his work.

i + w candle

ipluswcandle

i have a dog.  she smells awful 35% of the time.  it’s not my fault.  i’m not the one that instructs her to roll around in dirt and s**t (literally – wtf is wrong with her) and pine needles.  a couple of weeks ago, my lady and i were entertaining another couple for dinner and she asked me get a candle for my stinky house.  i knew exactly what to buy.

if you’ve ever been to imogene + willie in nashville, then you know it’s one of the best smelling stores around.  and the best part is that they sell their scent in the form of one badass looking candle.  i’m not gonna lie, it’s pricey at $55, but it’s well worth it.  i burn that s**t every night.  in fact, it’s burning right now.  you can order one here.  just do it.  no chick likes a stinky house.

nashville love

iwnashhat

i’m in love with my city.  no apologies.  i realize there’s a whole other world out there, but i can visit that world on weekends and vacations.  i’m glad to see nashville’s own imogene + willie loves this city as much as i do.  they’ve recently added a nashville ball cap – celebrating nashville’s baseball history – and a limited edition t-shirt featuring the words – you guessed it – “nashville” on it.  i promise not to wear both at the same time.

bad news: the t-shirt is sold out, but it’s still great to look at.  fingers crossed they’ll make some more.

dad jeans

my old man (and one of my style icons) bought his very first pair of imogene + willie jeans today. after trying on both the willie and the barton, he went with the barton. it was his first time in the store and definitely won’t be his last. looking sharp, dad.

note: i snapped this pic before they took his measurements.  he didn’t walk out of the store with that much cuff.

about time: imogene + willie jeans

i bought my first pair of imogene + willie jeans last week.  i’ve been in there enough that i should have already owned a pair.  i kept telling myself that i was going to lose a few pounds before buying said jeans, but the few pounds are still there and they’re probably not going anywhere.

i + w offers two kinds of guys denim: the willie and the barton.  the barton fit more like my apc petit standards so i went with those.  once you decide on the fit, they pin the jeans for tailoring and tailor them while you wait.  i was running late for a meeting, so i left them for a few days.  when i went to pick them up, they brown-bagged the jeans and tied the package with a denim ribbon (a very nice touch).

i’m not a denim expert by any means and don’t have anything to compare these to besides my apcs and an old pair of  j. crew “dad” jeans, but these things are the real deal.  they’re not super heavy and they fit like a glove (thank you chad for pinning them perfectly).  i also love some of the tiny details they added to the jeans like the date they were made mine and the subtle i+w logo on the seam.

it goes without saying that nashville is lucky to have imogene + willie.  they put a lot of love into their denim and the staff are some of the best people i’ve ever met.  if you haven’t jumped on the selvedge denim train yet, this would be a good place to start.

new beckham boots from imogene + willie

damn you imogene + willie for making so much good stuff like these newly released “jump” boots.  since i live and work down the street from their nashville store, it’s just too easy to go in there and spend money.  i saw these on their blog last night and had to mention them.  they are vintage paratrooper boots cut down slightly above the ankle with brand new white cushion soles.  david beckham is already fan (pictured below) which is why they’ve been dubbed “the beckham.”  just to clarify: becks was not in nashville – that photo was taken in la.  i’m going to go by there this afternoon and try not to buy them.

holiday gift idea: imogene + willie gift card

if you haven’t heard of nashville’s own imogene + willie, then you’ve been living under a rock.  they’re slowly taking over the world one pair of jeans at a time.  one of the top things on my christmas list is a gift card from their superb store.  and if you don’t live in nashville, you can check out the recently launched imogene + willie park & bond shop that features a lot of cool items like a 1954 gibson southern jumbo guitar.

oak street bootmakers trail oxford

i hate the internet.  it’s an enabler for someone like me.  earlier today i was going through some of my favorite tumblrs when a picture of some beat-to-hell oak street bootmaker trail oxfords popped up.  they looked fantastic.  i went to oak street’s website to order some, but found out they were backordered 6 weeks (who has that kind of time?).  luckily i remembered a friend of mine told me imogene + willie just started carrying the trail oxford.  since i’m a 5 minute drive from i + w, i figured i might need to go check them out in person.  the plan was to try them on now and purchase them later, but they were too comfortable.  i bought them on the spot.  i guess i’m a sucker for horween chromexel leather and a vibram sole.

sizing tip: go a half size down.

imogene + willie scout books

i had the good fortune of being in the right place at the right time this morning.  as i pulled into nashville’s imogene + willie, the ups man pulled in behind me with a box of goodies.  the team seemed to be excited about the delivery, so i stuck around to see what was in the box.  sure enough, they were imogene + willie scout books.  i was lucky to snag a couple before they go on sale tomorrow.

the i + w scout books come in a pack of 3 with 3 different covers.  there are 16 front to back pages of grid paper (32 to write on).  they measure 3 1/2 inches wide by 5 inches tall (1/2 inch shorter than field notes).  my favorite part of these particular pocket notebooks is the personalized note on the back (below):

that note says it all.  matt and carrie and the rest of the team put so much love into their products that you feel like they were made just for you.  be sure to check out www.imogeneandwillie.com tomorrow so you can order your own scout books and see the rest of their fall collection.
