polo shirts are awesome and should be a summertime wardrobe staple. no, i’m not going to list the reason why or compile a list of my favorites. (valet did that this morning and it’s impressive.) what i will tell you is that i’m feeling these tipped polo shirts like the one above. it’s a nice changeup when you want to give your magnum p.i. floral shirt a break (more on that at a later date).
interesting collaboration we got going on here. my first thought was why the hell do we need a j. crew and lacoste collaboration. i love j. crew (obviously) and lacoste is all i wore in college (they used to be hard to find – seriously), but this partnership seemed unnecessary until i read further. what they’ve done is added a retro logo (dig it), notched the tennis tail (necessary), and updated to a slim fit (boom goes the dynamite). this is a shirt i can get behind for the spring. see you on the court, winthorpe.
it was 85 degrees today in nashville which got me thinking about the summer and more specifically my upcoming trip to the beach. a lot of folks are on spring break right now, so this post may not be as premature as you might think. when i’m at the beach, i like keep things very jeff spicoli: short sleeve polo shirt, volley swim trunks, slip on vans, and some form of beach bag. if you haven’t seen fast times at ridgemont high, you need to plan on watching it as soon as you possibly can. mr. serious sean penn as a high school stoner and phoebe cates in a bikini: what’s not to like?
fall is right around the corner. if you’re thinking about what shirts you should stock up on this season, look no further than the classic oxford button down. they never go out of style and you can never have too many. plus they’re low maintenance – they look good nicely ironed or a little bit wrinkled. i tend to stick the classic blue and white, but don’t let that prevent you from adding some color to your life. here are four companies doing oxfords right:
caught this spread collar polo from brooks brothers over at sartorially inclined. great find and it’s on sale for $44. the reviews say the fit is slim. order accordingly.
