the best no show socks on the market

stancenoshow

it’s officially hot af (as f**k) outside which means it’s time to show a little ankle.  the best way to accomplish this summertime task is through no show socks.  it may sound like an easy thing to buy, but it’s not my friend.  i’ve tried out several pairs and found the best one’s on the market.  stance’s no show socks are a cut above the rest.  high five!  they fit like a glove and don’t fall down while you’re wearing them – which is exactly what you want from a no show sock duh.  ordering tip: buy a size down than whatever they recommended.  you’ll thank me later.  you can get a 3 pack here for $25.  that is a frickin’ deal.

adidas reissuing rod laver shoes

laver1

adidas rod laver tennis shoes might be my favorite tennis shoes of all time.  i’ve run through close to 3 pairs.  that might not sound like a lot, but i bought my first pair when i was a sophomore in college.  that was forever ago.  rumor has it they’re reissuing the original shoe from the 60’s.  this is good news because 2 years ago they added a new outsole that increased the weight of the shoe about 20 pounds or at least it felt like it.  the reissues were supposed to be on adidas.com on thursday, but i didn’t see them when i just checked.  i will continue to check back until i get these shoes.  they will be mine.  oh yes they will be mine.

nike internationalist and nike air odyssey

nikeairo nikeintl

i’ve been on a big nike kick lately.  it makes me feel like a kid again.  (side note: when i was a kid, i went through a couple of years when everything i owned had to be nike related including my school binder, backpack, etc.)  with summer now over and before i turn to boots full time, i’m going to grab a pair of nikes to rock this fall.  currently, i’m trying to decide between these two models: the internationalist and the air odyssey.  for under and around $100, you can’t go wrong here.

golf kit 2015

golfkit2015

i’ve caught the golf bug.  i always get it around this time of year.  it usually last for 3 or 4 months and then disappears when the weather gets cold.  i’m not a great golfer, but i aspire to be.  the first step to reaching that goal is to look like a golfer.  with that said, here’s what i’m wearing and swinging this summer:

travis mathews golf shirt – these shirts are amazing.  they are fitted and have a retro feel to them.  if they’re good enough for bubba, they’re good enough for me.

ecco golf shoes – i used to think these looked ridiculous.  not anymore.  i couldn’t play without them.  they are the most comfortable golf shoes on the market and i’ve pretty much tried them all.  not even joking.

yeti rambler – it will keep your drink cool for days.  days.  did you hear that?  days.

scotty cameron newport 2.5 putter – the very first “big” item i ever purchased with my own money was a scotty cameron putter.  i now own 4 of them.  i refuse to putt with anything else.

titleist pro v1 golf balls – the best golf balls on the market (in my opinion).

masters tour visor – i realize tour visors are super fratty, but i don’t care.  they are essential to my golf game.  no link provided, but you may be able to find one on ebay.

callaway big bertha alpha 815 driver – i must confess.  i don’t own this driver, but i will before the end of the summer.  i bought two callaway fairway woods last year and trust that this driver is the best on the market.  i’ll keep you posted.

arsenal ball marker poker chips – you need something to mark your ball with, so why not show your support for the best football club on the planet.

scotty cameron belt buckle – you will never catch me in a white belt, but that doesn’t mean i’m not going to rock a dope belt buckle while i’m taking your $3 (nassau, bitches).

j. crew 9″ stanton shorts – 9″ is the perfect shorts length for the golf course.  please no chubbies or stand up shorts.  leave your balls in your bag (see what i did there?  i am hilarious.)

quoddy ring boots

quoddy_ring

if you’re a menswear enthusiast, you’re probably checking the date on this post and making sure you’re on the right one.  yes, i realize these were much hyped 4 years ago and i should have jumped on them then, but no better time than the present, right?

i’m feeling these right now and i couldn’t tell you why.  maybe it’s because they’re different.  maybe it’s because they’re good looking.  maybe it’s that damn ring.  i dunno.  they’re just plain awesome.  if you need a better description, you can check them out here or on my feet when they arrive this week.

for fall: new balance crt300

nb1.300

summer is winding down (or at least i hope it is.  it’s way too damn hot outside).  i’m ready for the fall.  i like everything about the fall i.e. football, european football, baseball playoffs, cooler weather, whiskey, tailgates, jackets (i was a fat kid growing up), more football.  you get the picture.  one thing you’re going to need for all this fall goodness is a pair of transition kicks.  enter the new balance crt300.  it’s a suede and mesh retro looking tennis shoe featuring new balance’s revlite soul technology (it means they’re super light, ya dingus).  i’m a big fan of this weird looking blue, but if you’re not digging it, more colorways are available at newbalance.com.

new balance 891 high-top sneaks

my girlfriend may kill me if i don’t quit buying shoes (should be the other way around, right?).  there are so many good kicks on the market e.g. stan smiths, jordan iii infrareds, air max anniversary.  i could name 10 more, but i’m not going to.  at this moment, i have my eyes on these high-tops from new balance.  i love the navy / orange contrast, and since they’re made by new balance, you know they’re going to be comfortable as hell (that makes little sense but you get the point).  they need to be on my feet as soon as possible.  you can buy them here.

weekend kicks: nike air max 1

airmax1

for the last year or so, my go-to weekend kicks have been nike air max 1s.  they are one of my all-time favorite sneakers and the best part is that you can find them pretty much anywhere.  you don’t have to spend months looking for a pair to match your style (i’m looking at you air jordan 3).  there are plenty of colorways available like the grey / red air max 1 premiums you see above (and below).  i’m not sure when they drop, but i will be copping a pair.  for more info, click here.

back in stock: adidas stan smith sneakers

Screen Shot 2014-02-19 at 7.54.18 PM

y’all, adidas is messing with our heads.  sometime in 2012 (or early 2013), they took away two of my favorite shoes: the rod laver and the stan smith.  then they announced the return of the stan smith in early 2014.  the drop date happened in late january and i missed the boat by a day or two.  i contacted adidas to ask when they were going to restock the shoes and they said they didn’t know.  (tanks fer nuttin’, adidas.)  last wednesday, i stopped by the adidas store in chicago and they were stocked with stan smiths.  i found my size (they run true) and asked if they would ship them to me.  the very kind salesclerk said adidas stores didn’t ship, so i told her i’d wait until they were restocked online.  (i had a small bag with me and didn’t want to carry them in the box on the plane.)  yesterday, i got an email announcing they were restocked online and i jumped on it.  i tell you this ridiculous and pointless story because they are now in stock at www.adidas.com.  hurry and jump on your size before it’s too late.  and adidas please just keep them in stock and stop messing with our heads.

alfred sargent for j. crew

afjcrew1

i went and did it.  i said i wouldn’t and i did it anyway. there’s a good reason for it, ok?  i wear my sid mashburn double monks almost every day.  they’re half a size too big for me and starting to look a little ragged.  rather than ordering another pair from sid, i decided to check out the alfred sargent for j. crew double monks, and i’m glad i did.  don’t get me wrong i love my mashburn monks, but variety is always welcome.

there are few differences between the two double monks strap shoes (alfred argent also makes sid’s). color wise the new ones are a little lighter than sid’s (not sure if you can tell from my shotty iphone photos). the only other difference is the toe. the j. crew double monks are less pointy than sid’s and fit my feet better. if you’re planning on making a purchase, go a .5 size down from your measured or street shoe size. they run big like most english made shoes.
