billykirk or makr

my friend skip over at alex grant has a great post on his wallets through the years and how they’ve changed as he’s gotten older.  my favorite of his collection is his billykirk wallet with “skip” embossed on the loop.  i’m thinking about picking up one of those or going with the makr flap wallet.  both are designed to be more of a front pocket wallet so your cards don’t bend or break.  which one do you think i should go with?

around the internet

i meant to post these links last week, but didn’t get around to it.  my blogging hombres have been doing some good work and i thought it’d be nice to mention it (even though i wasn’t invited to join their fantasy football league – what’s up with that – just kidding).

red clay soul’s early season tailgating style: persols, aldens, l.l. bean oxford, red pants, uga belt…what else do you need?  i’ll be piggy-backing this post later in the week.  good stuff.

will the gant cricket v-neck be this year’s norwegian sweater?  a headlong dive makes his case for it.  jeremiah says, “if you don’t like it, you don’t like menswear.”  classic.

skip brooks at alex grant reveals his “fall fleet.”  i think he got a new camera or has been perfecting his picture taking.  looking good, skip.  i’m working on my fall rotation as well.

the return of the tretorn

if you’ve been reading your blogroll lately, you’ve probably seen tretorns mentioned enough to make you take notice.  i certainly have.  they’re quickly becoming a new summer standard to rotate in with your authentics and lavers.  most are going with the white and changing out laces to add a personal touch.  i like the white ones, but i’m gonna change it up and get these navy ones found here.  tretorns are not a new brand.  they’ve been around since 1891 and released the canvas nylite tennis shoe in 1967.  they were considered the first luxury tennis shoe and were prominent in the 1970s.  i’m glad to see them making a comeback.

my go-to-coat

taking inspiration from skip brooks at alex grant i thought i’d post a quick picture of my go-to-coat before i put it away for the summer.  i bought my barbour bedale 2 years ago and can’t imagine life without it.  it sounds ridiculous to say that about a jacket, but it’s traveled everywhere with me.  it can take a beating by any type of weather and still look good.  you can wear it over layers of clothing or just over a t-shirt and it still fits perfectly.  my wife claims she’s never seen me without it.  that might be true.  if you don’t own anything from barbour, you’re a fool.  save yourself a little extra cash and make the purchase.  you won’t regret it and you won’t leave home without it.  thanks for the idea, skip.

ode to the norwegian

i really want one of these l.l. bean norwegian sweaters.  i’ve been talking about ordering one for a year now.  when catching up on my blog roll yesterday, i saw skip at alex grant posted an “ode to the norwegian.”  sounds like reason enough to finally click buy.  if you have some free time, head over to skip’s site and check it out.  he also does these “date nights” where he and n’east style watch a movie  together and post kits based on the style of the male and female leads.  they did rushmore last night.  thanks for the inspiration, skip.
