new balance 247 sneakers in olive

greennb

last week j. crew released a new collaboration with new balance featuring some stylish workout gear.  being that i’m quite partial to lulu and now outdoor voices, i’m not going to jump on any of the clothes portion of this collaboration, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t.  you can check out the full collection here.  there are some really good pieces.  what i am going to do is grab a pair of these olive green kicks you see before you because the color is too good to pass up and they look ridiculously comfortable.  i’ll report back as soon as i have them in my possession.

vans for j. crew sk8-hi reissue sneakers

vanshi1

oh no.  not another j. crew shoe post.  i’m tired of these too, but i can’t help it.  they keep coming with heat.  on this collaboration with vans, they went through the archives and pulled a design straight from the dogtown days.  i’d say they nailed it.  these look pretty f’ing dope.  they also come in “boardwalk” blue.  you can pre-order them on j.crew.com.  i believe i will do just that (unless j. crew wants to send me a test pair).

back in stock: adidas stan smith sneakers

Screen Shot 2014-02-19 at 7.54.18 PM

y’all, adidas is messing with our heads.  sometime in 2012 (or early 2013), they took away two of my favorite shoes: the rod laver and the stan smith.  then they announced the return of the stan smith in early 2014.  the drop date happened in late january and i missed the boat by a day or two.  i contacted adidas to ask when they were going to restock the shoes and they said they didn’t know.  (tanks fer nuttin’, adidas.)  last wednesday, i stopped by the adidas store in chicago and they were stocked with stan smiths.  i found my size (they run true) and asked if they would ship them to me.  the very kind salesclerk said adidas stores didn’t ship, so i told her i’d wait until they were restocked online.  (i had a small bag with me and didn’t want to carry them in the box on the plane.)  yesterday, i got an email announcing they were restocked online and i jumped on it.  i tell you this ridiculous and pointless story because they are now in stock at www.adidas.com.  hurry and jump on your size before it’s too late.  and adidas please just keep them in stock and stop messing with our heads.

superga classics

superga1

the first time i saw a pair of superga sneakers i was in 8th grade.  one of my friends had invited a french exchange student to live with her for a few months and these were the only shoes she packed.  i thought they were some of the most heinous sneakers i had ever seen – which means they were destined to be cool 15 years later.  honestly, they’re probably still not “cool,” but I’m not worried about it.  they’re incredibly comfortable, easy on the wallet and you can throw them in the washing machine when they start to stink.  who knows maybe i won’t look like a tourist when i finally book that trip to europe.  you can buy your very own here.

new tretorn nylite colorways at sid mashburn

while doing some online shopping at sid’s tonight, i noticed they added a few new tretorn nylite colorways to their arsenal.  the navy/red have my name all over them.  if you’ve been waiting to jump on the tretorn nylite bandwagon, it’s time to get on board.  these are perfect shoes for the spring and summer.  you can find all three colors at sidmashburn.com.

sperry cloud cvo sneakers

i love canvas sneakers.  they’re cheap and look good with anything besides formal wear.  i’m a vans man first and foremost, but these sperry 75th anniversary cvo sneaks are the nuts.  i saw them on selectivism last week and bookmarked the hell out of that page.  the only problem with the link they attached to the post is that it’s for a store in the uk and they’re out of a bunch of sizes.  fear not for i have found some here.  if you want the red (above), they’re only $40 right now.  act fast because they may not be around for long.

tennis shoes

white tennis shoes are the perfect footwear for spring/summer.  i’ve mentioned my obsession with adidas rod lavers a couple of times now, but i noticed these new balance pro court tennis shoes last night while doing some j. crew new item recon.  i’m really interested in seeing a pair.  for $55 there’s no reason i shouldn’t order these.  they look a little bit like my holy grail of tennis shoes – the collaboration between nike and apc that came out in 2009.  behold:

if i pull the trigger on the new balance, i’ll post some pics.  and if you find some the nike x apc kicks on ebay or elsewhere in a size 9.5 or 10, let me know asap.

re: new balance

new balance is slowly taking over the sneaker game.  well, mostly with hipsters and style bloggers.  for good reason too.  i’d argue they’re the most comfortable casual/athletic shoe on the market.  i tried to wear nike dunk lows for a year of my life, but stopped cause i looked like i was trying too hard.  this weekend i tried on the adidas campus 80 suede sneaks below (the grey ones) and they felt great.  i had a pair as a kid, but that was a long time ago.  why have i been focusing so much on new balances lately?  the two shoes below from adidas are two of my personal favorites and must-haves if you’re a shoe junkie like myself.

you can’t go wrong with either one.
